The Gunners are to ask UEFA to reassess their verdict on the Croatian international's suspension...
Arsenal have today confirmed that they will be appealing against the UEFA decision to suspend striker Eduardo da Silva for two European matches, after his dive to win a penalty against Celtic in the Champions League play-off recently.
A statement on the Gunners' official website reads, "The club is in receipt of UEFA’s reasoned decision in relation to the charge against Eduardo.
"We strongly believe that the decision taken is deeply flawed and not based on any forensic review of the video evidence available.
"There are obvious errors and inconsistencies in UEFA’s judgement and we intend to appeal."
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger had reacted angrily in the wake of the controversial incident, describing it as "witchhunt". Whether any change will be made to the punishment, at a time when the footballing authorities appear to be taking a stern line on the alleged misbehaviour of English Premier League clubs, remains to be seen.
